The owner wanted a green garden to experience the seasons. No need for a dining table or lounge set. Owner wanted to walk out every day for a little bit, coffee in hand, just to see and experience nature. Shelter for birds was appreciated.
The rectangular paving reflects the stained glass in the window and the yellow brick matches the oak floor in the living room.
In the planting I made two open spaces made of low creeping Acaena microphylla to create pathways into the lush planting. and thus extending the terrace into the planting, creating a sense of depth.
For winter interest there are three small round clipped balls of Sarccocca together with the grasses, the Hydrangeas, and the Acaena in front of the dark green Hedera against the walls. They will form a nice interesting winter display.
